Monday of the Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time
Reading 1
Brothers and sisters:
You were dead in your transgressions and sins
in which you once lived following the age of this world,
following the ruler of the power of the air,
the spirit that is now at work in the disobedient.
All of us once lived among them in the desires of our flesh,
following the wishes of the flesh and the impulses,
and we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest.
But God, who is rich in mercy,
because of the great love he had for us,
even when we were dead in our transgressions,
brought us to life with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
raised us up with him,
and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus,
that in the ages to come
he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace
in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and this is not from you; it is the gift of God;
it is not from works, so no one may boast.
For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works
that God has prepared in advance,
that we should live in them.

Gospel
Someone in the crowd said to Jesus,
“Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.”
He replied to him,
“Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?”
Then he said to the crowd,
“Take care to guard against all greed,
for though one may be rich,
one’s life does not consist of possessions.”
Then he told them a parable.
“There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
He asked himself, ‘What shall I do,
for I do not have space to store my harvest?’
And he said, ‘This is what I shall do:
I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones.
There I shall store all my grain and other goods
and I shall say to myself, “Now as for you,
you have so many good things stored up for many years,
rest, eat, drink, be merry!”’
But God said to him,
‘You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you;
and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?’
Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself
but is not rich in what matters to God.”

리딩 1
형제 여러분, 여러분은 허물과 죄로 죽었습니다.
그때 여러분은 이 세상 시대를 따라 살았습니다.
공중의 권세를 잡은 통치자, 곧 지금 불순종하는 자들 가운데서 역사하는 영을 따랐습니다.
우리 모두는 한때 육신의 정욕에 따라 그들 가운데 살았습니다.
육신의 욕망과 충동을 따랐습니다.
그리고 우리는 다른 사람들과 마찬가지로 본성상 진노의 자녀였습니다.
그러나 자비가 풍성하신 하느님께서는
우리를 향한 큰 사랑으로
우리가 허물로 죽은 상태에 있을 때에도
그리스도와 함께 우리를 살리셨습니다(여러분은 은혜로 구원을 받았습니다).
그분과 함께 우리를 일으키시고
그리스도 예수 안에서 하늘에 함께 앉히셨습니다.
이것은 그분께서 그리스도 예수 안에서 우리에게 베푸신 자비로 그 은혜의 헤아릴 수 없는 풍성함을 장래 시대에 보여 주시기 위함이었습니다.
은혜로 믿음으로 구원을 받았으니
이는 너희에게서 난 것이 아니요 하나님의 선물이니
행위에서 난 것이 아니니 아무도 자랑치 못하게 하려 함이라
우리는 그의 작품이요 그리스도 예수 안에서 선한 일을 위하여 창조되었으니
하나님께서 미리 예비하사
우리로 그 가운데 살게 하려 하심이니라

군중 가운데 어떤 사람이 예수께 말했습니다.
“선생님, 제 형에게 유산을 저와 나누라고 말해 주세요.”
예수께서 그에게 대답하셨습니다.
“친구여, 누가 나를 당신의 재판관과 중재자로 세웠습니까?”
그러고 나서 그는 군중에게 말했습니다.
“모든 탐욕을 조심하십시오.
사람이 부유하더라도
사람의 삶은 소유물로 이루어져 있지 않기 때문입니다.”
그러고 나서 그는 그들에게 비유하는 이야기를 말씀하셨습니다.
“어떤 부자가 있었는데, 그의 땅은 풍성한 수확을 거두었습니다.
그는 스스로에게 물었습니다. ‘내 수확물을 저장할 공간이 없는데 어떻게 해야할까?'
그리고 그는 말했습니다.
‘이렇게 해야겠다. 내 헛간을 허물고 더 큰 것을 지을거야.
거기에 내 모든 곡식과 다른 물건을 저장할 거야.
그리고 나는 나 자신에게 말할 것이다.
‘이제 여러 해 동안 쌓아 둔 좋은 것들이 많으니,
쉬고, 먹고, 마시고, 즐겨라!'
그러나 하느님께서 그에게 말씀하셨습니다.
"어리석은 자야, 오늘 밤 너는 목숨을 거둘 것이다.
그리고 네가 준비한 것들은 누구의 것이 될 것인가?
이와 같이 자기를 위해 보물을 쌓지만,
하나님의 기준에서는 부유한 것이 아니다”
